This is a small, independent side project. This page explains what information this site collects (currently very little) and what may change as the site grows.
what this site collects today
coolsidequests.com does not require an account to use the site. The "mark done" quest tracker saves its history only in your own browser on your own device — it isn't sent anywhere or seen by anyone else. A shared, anonymous count of total quests completed site-wide is stored on our server, but it has no way of knowing who completed anything — just that something was checked off.
email signups
If you join a feature waitlist or enroll in the Institute of Applied Boredom, we store your email address for that one purpose — to send the CoolSideQuests update you requested. IAB enrollment also lets you provide an optional nickname, which should not be your real name. We don't use these details for anything else, don't share them with third parties, and don't add you to any other mailing list. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing us (see Contact below).
cookies & analytics
This site may use basic, privacy-friendly analytics (for example, to see how many people visit and which pages are popular) so we can make the site better. This does not identify you personally.
advertising
This site shows ads through Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running it:
- Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- Ads appear near the bottom of the page rather than mixed into the quest content.
if you submit content
If a future version of this site lets you submit your own quests, photos, or comments, only submit what you're comfortable being public. Don't include your full name, school, address, or other identifying details in anything you post.
a note for younger visitors
This site is designed with a teen audience in mind. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and have concerns about anything on this site, please reach out using the contact info below.
changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it makes money changes (like turning on ads), this page will be updated first, with a new "last updated" date at the top.
